Sophie Kinsella

I am sure that all of your are familiar with the following five books. The first now being a international popular film. I am of course stalking about the shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella. Her fast paced wit, imagination and style has captured the eye of many reader.

Confessions of a shopaholic:

The first book introduces us to the young Rebecca Bloomwood who loves to shop. She shops in all the designer stores, but what we quickly learn is that it is borrowed money that allows this extravagant hobby/obsession to continue, until one day when it all catches up with her. Becky ironically works for the finical magazine, successful saving in London. Meanwhile a number of things happen, she gets continuous letter concerning her unpaid credit cards, she meets a man named Luke Brandon, and become well known for a published article she wrote. But all this had to come to an end as the dept collect Derek Smeath, consist persistence finally pays off and he exposes Becky dept to everyone.
With everything fallen down around her she has to take some extreme measure to get her life back on track.
The book is witty and charming, the reader instantly falls in love with Becky and finds them selves hoping that she can work everything out, especially with a certain Luke Brandon.

Shopaholic takes manhattan

In this second book of the Shopaholic series, Becky is back and still as crazy about shopping as in the previous book, only this time she has the beautiful Luke Brandon as her boyfriend. Luke wants to venture to New York to try and set up an office there, Becky, still in trouble with her bank, more so maw as her easy going bank manager has left and been replaced by a rather stern man, goes along with Luke and very quickly become acquainted with the Nee York shopping scene, to the horror of both her bank accountant and Luke.

This book engages the reader, evoked emotions response from Beckys actions and at the same time is hilariously unpredictable.

Shopaholic ties the knot

The book opens with Becky and Luke now living in New York, Manhattan. She has finally found her calling as a personal shopper, which allows her to spend all day shopping, but for others.
Becky is to help her best friend Suzerainty plan her wedding, during which she is surprised by an engagement ring of her own. Becky suddenly has a difficult choice as her own mother and Luke's mother want the wedding in two different location, her own mother wants to throw her a wedding in England and Luke's mother what to throw a lavish wedding in Manhattan.
The problem is that Becky can't seem to tell wither of them know, and soon she has two wedding planned for the same day.

Fluffy, witty and as always Becky steals our hearts. The only thing I was disappointed by was that Becky seems to fail to grow up, even when facing her own wedding day, but at the same time the rather lost, sweat Becky would not be her if she was not forever confused and endearingly lost.
Another great, easy read that you can easily get lost in.

Shopaholic and sister

After a honeymoon consisting of a lot of shopping on Becky's behalf, the newly weds head back to settle once again into London. But for Becky it is not the same London she left behind, Luke returns to work, Suze is busy with her two children, and her parents don't seem all that happy to have her back in the country.
It does not take Becky long to discover why her parents are acting weird, her father recently found out that he has a second daughter.
Becky, desperate for company, quickly throws her time into connection with this half sister, while also trying to keep her self out the shops and their finances afloat.
Becky's half sister turns out to be opposite to herself, she hates shopping, is very frugal with her money and cannot stand the fact that Becky is such a big spender.
Becky and her new sister soon fight with overly harsh works, Luke becomes furious when he discovers how much she has secretly been spending and her best friend Suze is not talking to her.
We once again see Becky try to patch her life together, and correct all her wrongs.

I think this book has more to offer than Shopaholic ties the knot, the plot digs a it deeper and we learn more about our protagonist Rebecca Brandon.

Shopaholic and baby

Becky has succumbed all her previous predicaments, but a new challenge is on the horizon when she find put the she is pregnant. Her first question is when can she start shopping for the baby. Becky manages to find every excuse to buy stuff for their unborn child, leaving Luke extremely worried, but she is too busy thinking about buying baby clothes to really hear him.
She soon goes to the full extremes, when she hears some lady's talking about the best doctor in town, and that would never consider going anywhere else. She quickly ditches their family doctor and transfers to this new one.
It soon dawns on Becky, at their first appointment, that the new doctor is an extremely good looking ex-girlfriend of Luke's.
After seeing Luke's easy manner with the ex and catches him telling s few lies Becky does what every woman would do, she hires a private detective.

This book delves deeper emotionally than any of the previous books. Yet continues to entertain us with easy wit.

last night at chateau marmont by Lauren Weisberger

Brooke loved reading all the gossip magazine, but what she had not foreseen was that one day those same magazines would contain articles about her self and her newly founded musician husband who became a huge star over night. The changes that are to creep into her marriage, work and social life due to her husband success had never crossed her mind until they had already happened. With disaster on the horizon, due to these magazine articles printed about herself and her husband, will she be able to over come it and get her life back?

The book is gripping, exciting and a perfect chick-lit read! The protagonist; Brooke is so relatable and mesmerising that this book will be devoured by all chick-lit lovers, a great summer or easy read! For all those who loved 'The Devil Wears Prada' and Weisberger's other novels will definitely love this book.
